Man accused of stealing BWV, crashing into FHP cruiser arrested in Plantation, cops say — Coconut Creek Community news

A man accused of stealing a BMW, crashing into a trooper s cruisers, and running away was arrested in Plantation, authorities said. According to Plantation Police, on Monday, officers found a BMW that was driving northbound in the 600 block of North State Road 7, which was earlier reported stolen by Hollywood Police. Police said that the Broward Sheriff s Office aviation unit assisted with monitoring the BMW. At one point, the driver tried to enter the northbound Florida Turnpike entrance ramp. The BMW then maneuvered around a construction barricade and crashed into a parked Florida Highway Patrol cruiser. After the crash, the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Leduan Herrera Morales, fled on foot, and Plantation Police pursued him. During the pursuit, Morales tried to jump a nearby fence, but he surrendered and was arrested. He faces several charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession and leaving the scene of a crash.
