LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) — After a 25-day trek covering over a thousand kilometers from the Amazon, farmers and indigenous people arrived near the government headquarters in La Paz on Monday to demand respect for their lands and to speak with President Rodrigo Paz. Oscar Cardozo, a leader of the farmers from Beni, expressed his determination, stating, "I left my small plot of land to defend the land that feeds me, my mother, and my two children." As police reinforced security around the presidential palace, approximately 500 protesters reached La Paz, although the number has dwindled following agreements made with the government.
