The fire, which began on April 25 south and west of the Tamiami Trail near Krome Avenue, led to the closure of several parking areas and facilities, impacting multiple airboat operators. Jose Novo, executive director of Everglades Safari Park, returned to the water on Thursday to assess the damage, witnessing the extensive reach of the fire across the charred wetlands.
