The Highway 41 fire in western Miami-Dade County is now 100% contained after burning 9,149 acres over the course of a week, as confirmed by authorities on Monday. The fire, which began on April 25 south and west of the Tamiami Trail near Krome Avenue, led to the closure of several parking areas and facilities, impacting multiple airboat operators. Jose Novo, executive director of Everglades Safari Park, returned to the water on Thursday to assess the damage, witnessing the extensive reach of the fire across the charred wetlands.
