Video shows a Newark passenger jet flying low over the New Jersey Turnpike on May 3, 2026. Patrick Oyulu New Jersey State Police said a preliminary investigation indicated a tire from the plane's landing gear and "the underside of the plane" hit both the pole and the tractor-trailer. The pole also struck a Jeep traveling on the turnpike, state police said. The truck was traveling to Smith's Bakery depot in Newark and was about to exit the turnpike when it was hit, according to Chuck Paterakis, senior vice president of transportation and logistics and co-principal at Baltimore-based H&S Bakery. One of the plane's landing gear tires went through the truck's window and windshield, Paterakis told CBS Baltimore. The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified by Paterakis as Warren Boardley, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was later released, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said. Paterakis said he was treated for injuries resulting from glass in his arm and hand. The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating the incident.  Factors that may have contributed to the mishapCellphone video appears to show UA169 flying low over the turnpike before landing just after 2 p.m."Upon its final approach into Newark International Airport, United flight 169 came into contact with a light pole. The aircraft landed safely, taxied to the gate normally and no passengers or crew were injured. Our maintenance team is evaluating damage to the aircraft and we will investigate how this occurred," the airline said, in part, in a statement. The Port Authority said the plane was on its way to Runway 29 when it hit the pole, causing damage to the pole and the tractor-trailer traveling south on the turnpike.Airport staff inspected the runway for debris and normal operations were quickly resumed, the Port Authority added. The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into Sunday's incident."We don't quite know yet what happened," Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Monday morning. "We don't want to get ahead of the facts, and oftentimes the first facts are wrong, but obviously there were issues with a couple of vehicles on the roadway." Duffy noted that gusty winds may have played a role. "Obviously, this shouldn't happen," Duffy said. The initial report will come from the NTSB in 30 days. Questions about the landing"The question investigators are going to want to understand is, how did that happen? Why was the plane too low? Did wind factor into this? Was there a loss of situational awareness in the cockpit? What were the factors that contributed to allowing this airplane to be too low and no one catch it before this happened?" said Kris Van Cleave, CBS News senior transportation correspondent."I think the video is pretty remarkable, and the fact that we are talking about everyone surviving this incident is ... is pretty remarkable," Van Cleave added. This was not the usual landing approach for United Flight 169. The daily Venice flight typically

Gilberto Crespo was legally justified in the Sept. 16, 2025 shootout that killed 44-year-old Jose Pineda Jr., according to an April 30 Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office closeout memo obtained by NBC6 on Monday. By NBC6 • Published 39 seconds ago • Updated 30 seconds ago BOOKMARKER NBC Universal, Inc. Dramatic new body camera video from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office shows a shootout involving a sergeant and an armed suspect who was killed back in September. NBC6’s Ari Odzer reports A Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office sergeant has been cleared in a shootout last year with an armed suspect who was killed in the gunfire that was caught on camera. Sgt. Gilberto Crespo was legally justified in the Sept. 16, 2025 shootout that killed 44-year-old Jose Pineda Jr., according to an April 30 Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office closeout memo obtained by NBC6 on Monday. Watch NBC6 free wherever you are   WATCH HERE The incident began when Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office officials said they received a 911 call about a man waving a gun at people outside of Davis Grocery in the 21600 block of Southwest 120th Avenue. "There's a guy in a Honda…he's pulling a gun out on everybody, please send the police, hurry up now," the person says in the call, also released by the sheriff's office. Florida Department of CorrectionsFlorida Department of CorrectionsJose Pineda Jr. According to the closeout memo, witnesses said Pineda was acting erratically, saying he was "ready for anything" and claiming his baby momma had killed their baby and he was "looking for something." Body camera footage released by the sheriff's office showed Crespo arrive and tell Pineda, who was in the van, to show his hands, but Pineda responded that he didn't have any hands. Crespo took cover behind a pickup truck then fired a few more shots and got on his radio. "Shots fired, shots fired!" he yells. "Watch for crossfire, he's armed!" A second deputy responds as Pineda got out of the van and ended up on the ground, injured, with his gun laying next to him, the video showed. The gun is kicked away as Pineda is placed in handcuffs. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Crespo wasn't injured but photos released by the sheriff's office showed the sergeant's vehicle was struck by gunfire and the closeout memo said a tire on his vehicle became flat from one of the rounds. Another photo showed Pineda's gun that was recovered at the scene. Miami-Dade Sheriff's OfficeMiami-Dade Sheriff's Office Investigators determined from the footage that Pineda fired first and that 34 shots were fired, including 11 from Pineda and 23 from Crespo, the closeout memo said. "In this case, the reported behavior to police and Pineda Jr.'s actions upon Sergeant Crespo's arrival constituted a clear danger," the memo said. "Therefore, based on a review of the law and evidence, Sergeant Crespo's use of deadly force was legally justified." This article tagged under: Caught on CameraMiami-Dade County

Tijuana Flats flat out fails inspection; Iron Sushi ordered shut for the 5th time!

Tijuana Flats in Coral Springs, Iron Sushi in Dadeland, La Jato Restaurant in Hialeah, and Los Catrachos in Miami were all ordered shut after inspections uncovered issues ranging from roach activity and flies to mold, temperature violations and unsanitary food handling practices. Man charged with murder after shooting girlfriend's brothers in Liberty City, report says

Crime and Courts Man charged with murder after shooting girlfriend's brothers in Liberty City, report says Antwani Carter, 31, was charged with first-degree murder. By Julian Quintana • Published 1 hour ago • Updated 1 hour ago BOOKMARKER You’re watching the NBC6 South Florida News streaming channel, which plays local South Florida news 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can find the “NBC6 South Florida News” streaming channel on your phone or computer, and on Peacock, Samsung, Roku, Xumo or on our app, so you can watch our local news on your schedule. A suspect accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend's brothers in Liberty City was arrested on Saturday, authorities said. Antwani Carter, 31, was charged with first-degree murder. Watch NBC6 free wherever you are   WATCH HERE According to authorities, officers arrived at an apartment at 5329 NW 17th Ave., where they found two males suffering from gunshot wounds. An arrest report said one of the men, 23-year-old Jaheim Pierre, was pronounced dead, while 28-year-old Gianni Pierre was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Back at the apartment, Carter was pacing back and forth and told officers "I'm the one. I have the firearm," the report said. Officers then found a 9mm Glock firearm in his right pocket, and he was detained. After Carter was placed in a cruiser, a woman came up to officers with her feet and clothes covered in blood, and said her brothers were the ones who were shot, the report said. During their investigation, the report said, officers looked at surveillance video that showed Carter leaving the apartment, walking to his car, grabbing an unknown object and putting it in his right pocket. He was then seen going back to the building and banging on a door, yelling for someone to open it. Local Caught on Camera 2 minutes ago Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office sergeant cleared in 2025 shootout that killed armed man Airlines 25 minutes ago Spirit Airlines doomed by high fuel prices due to ‘recent geopolitical events,' court docs state When the door opened, Carter ran into the apartment, reached into his front right pocket, and several gunshots were heard, as well as the woman screaming and running out, the report said. Carter was then seen leaving the apartment. Officers interviewed the woman, who told them she was Carter's girlfriend, and that she was in the apartment with him when her brothers came over, the report said. The woman said her brothers were protective because there had been moments of domestic violence between her and Carter. At one point, the report said, Jaheim and Carter got into an argument that quickly turned physical between them and Gianni, and the woman left the apartment to ask a neighbor to call the police. When she returned to the apartment, Carter was gone, and she locked the door. The woman then heard someone banging at the door and told her brothers not to open in the report said. Jaheim then opened the door, and Carter started firing shots. Gianni, the report said, was sitting on the coach when he was shot, and Jaheim ran towards his sister for cover and was shot and collapsed on top of her sister. Carter then sat at the edge of a bed and said "See what you made me." The woman then left the apartment. Detectives then interviewed Carter, who told them he was in the apartment with his girlfriend when her brothers arrived, and a scuffle began, the report said. Carter said he left the apartment to put candies in his car and get some fresh air, and when he came back to the apartment to get his keys and wallet, he saw the brothers with their fists in the air, ready to fight. Carter, the report said, then pulled out his gun and shot the brothers several times. A search of the apartment showed a pool of blood next to the couch where Gianni was found and a pool of blood in a closet where Jaheim was found, the report said. Several spent casings were also found throughout the apartment. Carter was then arrested and charged. This article tagged under: Crime and Courts
